Traveling Back in Time
August 22, 2009 - or was it August 1960?

Seems like it would be a tight fit for someone my size

Yep, not a lot of leg room. The seat is fixed, doesn't slide fore or aft.
I'm 6'5", Dad was 6', so maybe he had just a little more clearance!

There is plenty of headroom!

The panel has the basics. All you need for a VFR flight, especially in the days when the only radar in the state was in Charlotte. We all feared flying to Charlotte - you had to call them from TWENTY miles out! Can you imagine?

Just a little snug for long legs. Not so sure my size 14s would ever twist enough to handle the heel brakes!

Once again, take a look at Ken's workmanship. Amazing.

Pretty good bit of room in the back seat.

The Champ was built to compete with the Piper Cub. Unlike the Cub, you fly the Champ solo from the front seat. Much better forward visibility. In this picture you can see the beautiful laminated prop.

This is the hangar where 83204 hung suspended from the ceiling for almost two decades
